BEHIND THE LENS
When a Minolta 35mm rangefinder was given to Kari by her dad many moons ago, something clicked! That rangefinder was eventually traded in for a Minolta SLR, which she used to photograph her fellow high school students as Yearbook Photography Editor. Now, some 40 years later, even after raising and home schooling four children, Kari's focus on photography is still sharp. She currently shoots with a Canon full-frame D-SLR.
Kari's first love is nature photography, but she finds beauty in architecture, people, small businesses, local sights and parks, as well. She loves to travel--never without a camera-- domestically and internationally , or go on photographic jaunts around St. Louis when the light is perfect, seeing and capturing beauty everywhere--in light, texture, line, pattern and color--all in an effort to give God the glory .
Kari's been published in the Missouri Meetings & Events magazine, has self-published Collections ( a book of themed nature photographs), exhibits and sells her work in the St. Louis area, and was named April 2014's Photographer of the Month and Photographer of the Quarter by Photographer's Edge. Her work can also be seen on the websites of the Missouri Athletic Club, Sycamore Valley Farm B&B and the Hi-Pointe Theater. Tower Grove Park's Facebook page frequently posts her photos on their timeline, as well.
